Transmissions - How To Get There
Transmissions – How To Get There is a sound installation that is broadcast through a collection of radios. The radios are tuned to a common signal, and thus act as a symphony of “voices” - each unique to the quality of the speaker, the aerial and the radios size and shape. The sound piece is a collage of field recordings made in Paris, in which residents, tourists and guides offer directions. These directions are linked together become one continuous string of route-ways. This renders the vital information useless; the path becomes nonsensical and purely fictitious. It draws attention to the narrative quality inherent in direction-giving, and the imagined journey one takes when navigation another through space.
